Having graduated as an Electrical Engineer from Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín (Colombia), he went on to pursue a specialization in Risk Management and Insurance from Universidad EAFIT, in this same city, as well as a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from INALDE, in Bogotá (Colombia). He first joined Suramericana in 1994, and since then has served in the following positions: Head of Technical Unit (1994), Head of CAS General Insurance (2001), Underwriting Manager in Bogota (2002), Branch Manager in Bogota (2006), Regional Manager of ARL SURA (2010) and Central Regional Manager for Seguros SURA (2011).

In 2014, he took over as Chief Executive Officer of Seguros SURA Panama, where he furthered the transformation of this subsidiary, going beyond processes, technology, solutions and channels to make fundamental changes to its identity and organization culture, this with the aim of preparing the business to respond to a highly competitive, ever-changing environment, and to a more empowered, interconnected consumer. Here, important initiatives were carried out to enhance the Group’s value proposition for both private individuals and companies alike, this including the acquisition of Seguros Banistmo (2015).

Since December 2020, he has served as Chief Executive Officer of Seguros SURA Brazil, where he shall have the challenge of consolidating the team’s human talent, expanding into other different regions in Brazil as well as diversifying the portfolio of client-centric solutions.
