For the 14th consecutive year SURA is ranked among the organizations with the best reputation in Colombia, according to the Merco Empresas 2024 corporate survey

  • In this, the seventeenth edition of this annual ranking, our Organization was ranked in 5th place out of a total of 786 organizations evaluated, thereby reflecting the trust placed in the SURA Business Group.
  • Seguros SURA Colombia and Protección reaffirmed their leadership by maintaining first place in their respective industries.

This past Thursday, the Corporate Reputation Business Monitor, Merco Colombia, published its annual list of the organizations with the best reputations in the country - Merco Empresas 2024. For the fourteenth consecutive year, SURA was recognized as one of the top 10 organizations with the best corporate reputations, moving up to 5th place, with a total score of 8,476 out of a total of 10,000 points in the overall ranking. Likewise, Seguros SURA Colombia and Protección, companies belonging to the SURA Business Group, maintained first place in their respective sectors: namely insurance on the one hand and pensions and severance on the other.

"Reputation is a measure of trust that is fundamental to the sustainable growth of each of the lines of business of our SURA companies. Therefore, being favorably evaluated in this Merco ranking only goes to underscore the importance of continuing to work on cultivating long-term relationships with all our stakeholders, a commitment that we have upheld for the last 80 years. It is because of the trust placed in SURA that we continue to consolidate our presence not only throughout Colombia but also in Latin America," stated Ricardo Jaramillo, Grupo SURA’s Chief Executive Officer.

Merco Colombia's ranking is a compilation of the perceptions held by different stakeholder groups, such as analysts, journalists, academics, employees of the organizations evaluated, students, representatives of non-governmental organizations and business leaders. Also, for the 200 best evaluated companies, the information was complemented with the results of  other Merco rankings such as Merco Talento (Human Talent) and Merco Sociedad (General Population), this in order to obtain a much broader appraisal. In this year´s ranking, more than 84 thousand individual surveys were performed and the results obtained were compared against more than 26 sources of information.

Efforts to support SURA's inclusion in the 2024  Merco Empresas Corporate Survey

The companies belonging to the SURA Business Group strive to provide wellbeing to both individuals and companies in Colombia and throughout the region through the products, solutions and services they provide in terms of insurance, retirement savings, investments and asset management. This purpose is guided by their sound ethical and corporate principles and a way of doing business in which results are just as important as the way in which these are achieved. The Company’s positive evaluation by the Merco Empresas Corporate ranking as well as other evaluations is a reflection of precisely this.

The regional trust score for the SURA Business Group came to 85.6%, according to the Organization's most recent reputational study, which consulted more than 28 thousand individuals in all those countries where SURA is present and with the participation of 6 different stakeholder groups. Also, the latest Wellbeing Survey performed among the Business Group´s employees in Latin America achieved a score of 92/100. Also contributing to SURA´s favorable perception are the projects and initiatives of the SURA Foundation, through its different lines of support, in which the equivalent to USD 9.4 million was invested last year, this having a positive impact on more than 200 thousand people in Colombia, Mexico and Chile.

Sura Asset Management This expert player in retirement savings, investment and asset management recorded a total of 22.4 million clients at the end of the first half of 2024 along with USD 166 billion in assets under management in five countries, making this subsidiary the regional leader in pension fund management. In strengthening its strategy, it also has the regional platform, SURA Investments, which offers investment and asset management solutions to individuals, companies and institutions in 5 Latin American countries.

Suramericana. The subsidiary specializing in insurance as well as trend and risk management is consolidating its presence in 7 countries throughout the region, delivering well-being and competitiveness to more than 20 million clients through its solutions in the Life, Property & Casualty as well as Health Care segments, making it the fourth largest Latin American insurance company in terms of written premiums. As of June 2024, 38% of its written premiums were sourced by the Seguros SURA companies outside Colombia.

Seguros SURA Colombia. This Company has consolidated its position as the leading insurance company in Colombia, thanks to its innovative approach and its commitment to offer diversified solutions that further the well-being and competitiveness of both individuals and companies. In addition, the Company’s participation as a founding partner of VaxThera, a Colombian biotechnology company, has been key in strengthening the country's health care autonomy. VaxThera recently obtained a patent for its universal Coronavirus vaccine. Recently, it reinforced its digital strategy with the launch of sura.co, a platform that, in an agile and intuitive way, allows insurance solutions to be acquired in less than 3 minutes. This insurance subsidiary projects that by 2024 more than 75,000 new clients shall be using this digital channel, expanding its reach to other products and reaffirming its leadership throughout Colombia as well as its capacity for technological innovation.

Grupo SURA also recognizes how the companies that form part of its portfolio performed in the Merco Empresas 2024 corporate ranking: Bancolombia, which ranked 1st overall thereby leading the financial sector, and Grupo Argos, which advanced to 8th place overall while maintaining 1st place among the conglomerates evaluated.
