This Thursday, SURA and the Bolivar Davivienda Foundation announced in a on-line event the 10 projects selected as part of the fourth annual edition of the #PensarConOtros call for building citizenship and democracy in Latin America. These initiatives were chosen from a total of 823 and shall receive the support and resources required for their implementation over the next year.

This year, after holding the three previous annual editions in Colombia, this call for proposals was extended to 10 other Latin American countries in which the companies belonging to the SURA Business Group and Grupo Bolívar are present, these having been partners in this initiative for the past two years.

“What excites us most about this fourth annual edition is the incredible response that this call for proposals had throughout the region, this being the first time we have presented this initiative on such a grand scale. Having received more than 800 proposals from various sectors and from 11 countries shows us that Latin Americans are willing to continue helping to build active citizenship and democracy,” stated Fernando Cortés McAllister, executive director of the Bolivar Davivienda Foundation.

These projects were presented under two separate categories: Training in civic culture for living in a democracy:, and Migration, citizens in transit throughout Latin America. After a careful process of deliberation and analysis, our panel of 30 expert jurors selected 5 from each category, for a total of 10 that will be carried out in 2025 with each receiving US$50,000.

“We thank all the organizations and individuals who participated in this year's call for proposals. Being able to bring together in a single opportunity such diverse proposals and visions, from academia, indigenous communities, migrants, cultural and social organizations, is very gratifying and gives us hope that, in these challenging times for our democracies and political systems, there is the ability and willingness to work together to find solutions to common problems,” stated Maria Mercedes Barrera, Head of the Corporate Citizenship Department at Grupo SURA.
